Long Way Home is a 501 (c) 3 working in Guatemala on a variety of projects. We are working with them on construction of several buildings, including the Tecnico Maya Vocational School.
Construction is primarily tires filled with rammed earth; catorce documents the process as it is happening in Guatemala. Lizyrose’s blog (written by LHW board president Elizabeth Rose) writes more about rammed earth tires – we helped build a garage using this technology at her home near Boston. “The argument for building with tires” gives some good reasons why you would want to do that.
